When will I know if the visa has been rejected or accepted?
You will be informed on the day of the interview whether you are accepted or rejected.
How long does it take to process the visa if it is accepted?
Visa processing may take from 3 to 5 working days and 5 working days for delivery.
Is there an interview on the day of the appointment?
Yes, there is an interview that lasts a few minutes, during which some information will be requested from you before your visa is accepted or rejected.
Can I appeal the rejection decision?
You cannot appeal, but you can apply again.
What will happen on the day of the interview?
You will be sent a video explaining in detail what happens on the day of the interview.
Can I renew my visa without making an appointment?
No, as per the latest updates from the US embassy, to renew your visa you will need to book an appointment and attend the interview.
What is the first available appointment through the embassy?
Appointments are available regularly between 1–3 months.
Can I have an early appointment?
Our team is working hard to find you an early appointment, but please note that the decision regarding appointments ultimately depends on the embassy, as the appointments are offered through them.
Can I confirm the application just before the appointment?
No, because we need to confirm the DS-160 as the first step before paying the embassy fees.
Can someone collect my passport on my behalf?
Only first-degree relatives can receive the passport on your behalf with a letter of authorization from you.
Is door to door service available in the US in case of renewal?
No, it is not available. To renew this visa you will need to book an appointment and attend an interview.
Does previous travel help in getting the visa?
Previous travel strengthens your application, but it does not guarantee that your visa will be accepted, as this depends on the interview at the embassy.
Documents
What are the documents required for the embassy?
You can view all required documents via the TVSHelper website. Note: Effective July 7, the U.S. Embassy in Cairo requires all Non-Immigrant Visa (NIV) applicants age 16 and older to present a criminal record from their country of residence.
Are the documents required for the US different from those required for European countries?
The documents are the same, as they are submitted to verify both employment and financial status.
When do I start preparing the required documents?
The HR letter and bank statement will be prepared 7 days before the appointment date.
Do I have to submit flight and hotel reservations with the documents?
It is not necessary to submit hotel reservations and flight tickets with the required documents to the embassy.
Can documents be submitted in Arabic?
The embassy does not accept documents in Arabic and all documents must be translated into English.
Are there specific criteria for the personal photo required in the embassy form?
Yes, the specific criteria are:
- Hairline showing
- Taken within the last 6 months
- Colored photo (no black & white)
- White/light background
- Full face towards the camera
- No colored eye contacts
- 5 cm × 5 cm
- No eyeglasses
Minors
I have a 17 year old son. Should I go with him to the interview?
All children under 18 attending a visa appointment must be accompanied by a parent.
I have a child less than 14 years old, can we apply without an interview?
No, all minors must attend an interview, even if one parent has a valid US visa. A consent letter must be provided by the other parent who does not hold a visa.
Bank Statement
Are there specific criteria for bank account statements?
Yes, the standards are:
- The account must be in English and the name must also be in English
- Original, all pages stamped
- Must include transactions for the last 6 months
- Should have enough balance that includes $100 per day
Does the embassy require a certain amount in the bank statement?
The embassy does not require a specific amount. Your bank statement must reflect your financial ability to cover your trip expenses.
Visa Fees
How much is the total cost of the visa?
The visa costs $185 and is paid at First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) in Egyptian pounds.
Can I pay the visa fees online?
You can pay the visa fee by credit card.
After paying the visa fees, what is the validity of the receipt?
The receipt is valid for one year from the date of payment of the visa fee.
Can I get a refund for the visa fee?
Visa fees are non-refundable.
Can I book an appointment directly after paying the visa fee?
If payment is made at the bank, the system needs 24 hours for the payment to appear and the appointment to be booked. However, if payment is made by card, you can set the appointment directly after payment.
